Beach Park Area Information
During the 1920s, Tampa enjoyed a real estate boom which included the start of an exclusive residential community in the Interbay area of Westshore. In 1924 Kentuckian William Waller Trice, bank vice-president at Citizens, and Giddings E. Mabry, law partner of Governor Doyle Carlton, along with Carl David Brorein and Milton H. Mabry, formed the Beach Park Company. One of its entrances still survives on South Lois Avenue while the Beach Park headquarters is now the Woman’s Club on South Westshore.
Some 30 large Mediterranean style homes were built for the “well to do”. These elegant, historic homes provide a beautiful accompaniment to the new homes throughout Beach Park.
Located within the city limits of Tampa, Beach Park’s community spirit is deeply rooted in tradition and character. Set in the heart of Beach Park, Swann Circle is the site of many community events and serves as the nucleus of the neighborhood. Beach Park is graced with 200 to 300 year old oaks and towering palms and is one of Tampa’s oldest neighborhoods.
